This non-profit making Trust has been set up with the
following aims:
To help to bridge the gulf of misunderstanding that seems too
often to exist between those who think predominantly in verbal
terms and those who think in predominantly visual-spatial terms.
To draw attention to the high creative potential of the many visually-dominant
dyslexic minds.
To encourage, instigate, and engage in research into the cause
and nature of this connection between dyslexia and good visual-spatial
faculties which can lead to exceptional ability and achievement
in the arts and sciences (most noticeably, perhaps, in the visual
arts).
To provide an advisory service for all those concerned with the
above questions, most particularly in the field of education.
The Trust also offers practical help to students and adults in
their training and careers.
To persuade more people to appreciate the importance of visual-spatial
thinking in every creative activity (in the visual arts and other
areas as well), and to use their own visual-spatial thinking capacity
more effectively. This ability to think in visual terms is a valuable
specific attribute of the human brain which we all possess to
a greater or lesser extent according to our individual genetic
make-up. We want to encourage everyone to recognize and develop
it both for their own practical purposes and enjoyment, and also
for the greater understanding of the world we live in and of our
relationship to it, so that new ways towards solving the many
problems that face us all may be found.
